Please feel free to Kerchunk, roger bleep, MDC1200, GEstar, please ID, and be polite. I don't understand fear the kerchunk, if you are using a reasonable repeater setup an 80% duty cycle should be nothing to fear. I just don't buy the belief that kerchunking will wear out the transmitter or reduce the service life. Lightning will fix that problem, right? I just believe in the old kerchunk every now and then to make sure the radio system is still alive and well (It's a COP thing I guess). I have cringed hearing our HAM Radio Enforcement clowns browbeating some new ham who kerchunks, or says Break, Ten Four, or can't figure out how to prevent a $20.00 Chinesium alloy radio from Rodger beeping or transmitting annoying noises after hitting the side button Panic Alarm TX. after reading the manual included with the radio. Have fun, enjoy radio, make some new friends, teach new people, and learn from new people. Jim KF4COP/WRVP232 Yes, I go both ways and live in Chapel Hill!
